These monkeys were hanging around a quiet back entrance of Angkor Wat, near Siem Reap, Cambodia.

The older monkeys raided the backpack of an artist sitting nearby at least a half dozen times, grabbing handfuls of cookies and chips. The smaller monkeys feasted on the crumbs once the dominant adults had moved on.

Only 165 km from Hanoi, Halong Bay is one of Vietnam’s top tourist destinations. Especially after the oppressive traffic and noise of Hanoi, the peacefulness of a houseboat cruise on Halong Bay is a welcome stop on your travels through Vietnam.

The stillness of the water and the thousands of towering limestone islands make for breathtaking scenery. There are also enormous caves just waiting to be explored.

Halong Bay was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994 and is in the running as one of the new 7 Natural Wonders of the World.
